Update, February 10: Victoria Beckham may have just set the record straight about the Spice Girls Reunion Tour rumors that began circulating earlier this week. According to British Vogue, the designer declared “I’m not going on tour. The girls aren’t going on tour,” at a preview of her F/W 18 collection today. But while a tour isn’t in the works right now, Beckham didn’t dismiss the idea of something happening down the line. “You know, there’s so much bad stuff going on, and the Spice Girls were about fun and celebrating individuality,” she said. “I think there’s so much that the brand can do, and it’s such a positive message for young kids. What does that look like in the future? It’s not me in a cat-suit.”
Originally posted on February 7: This is not a drill—the Spice Girls reunion tour that you’ve been waiting for is finally happening, TMZ reports. The members recently met with their former manager Simon Fuller to discuss the upcoming world tour that sources say will kick off late summer of this year.
Get ready to see Mel B, Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, and Melanie C hit the stage together one more time. According to the site, the tour is set to begin in England before moving to the U.S.
Fuller is said to be managing the group during the tour, which is still in the very early stages of planning. While there still aren’t many details, the main takeaway is clear: The beloved group will be performing together again for the first time since 2012. You know what they say—friendship never ends.
This news comes after rumors of a tour surfaced last year, according to People, though Melanie C and Beckham were initially reluctant. “It is not happening. At some point you’ve gotta know when it’s time say, ‘That was great,'” Beckham told British talk show This Morning.
It seems as though everyone has finally come around to working together again, based on the statement they gave last week: “We have enjoyed a wonderful afternoon catching-up and reminiscing about the amazing times we have spent together. We are always overwhelmed at how much interest there is across the whole world for the Spice Girls. The time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together. We all agree that there are many exciting possibilities that will once again embrace the original essence of the Spice Girls, while reinforcing our message of female empowerment for future generations.”
Well we certainly can’t wait to buy tickets. Can you?
